10 most expensive yachts in the world

For most of the people, owning a yacht is the biggest goal to wonder, but for some people, owning a yacht is not enough - owning one of the biggest yachts in the world is the least they can do. So here is my list of 10 most expensive yachts in the world.

  1. History Supreme - This is said to cost around 3.7 billion euros. It is also called the Baia 100 Supreme.  This lavishly designed vessel makes use of just under 100 000 kilograms of platinum and gold as well as tiny meteorites and dinosaur bones as embellishments. This is truly something pointless in my mind. This piece of jewelry is assumed to be owned by a Malaysian businessman Robert Kuok. Pictures are taken from Emil Anton.

  2. Eclipse - This, as I have reviewed it before, is owned by Roman Abramovich. It costs about 986 million euros, making it the second most expensive yacht in the world. Pictures are taken from extravaganzi.com

  3. Streets of Monaco - The Streets of Monaco super-yacht is expected to give all the other vessels on this list a run for their money when it comes to sheer audacity. This ship features scaled-down reproductions of all the things you'll enjoy about Monaco. There is a go-kart track on the ship's deck that looks almost exactly like the Monaco Grand Prix. There are also reproductions of the Loews Hotel, the Hotel de Paris, Monte Carlo Casino, La Rascasse and Cafe de Paris. It costs about 848 million euros and it includes tennis courts, swimming pools, a cafe bar with underwater views, a mini waterfall, a penthouse sized apartment for the owner and luxurious suites for the guests. It does not have an owner yet. The pictures are taken from Yacht Island.

  4. Dubai - Also known as the Platinum 525, it's a 270 million euro vessel, owned by the reigning Sheikh of Dubai. Originally commissioned for Brunei Prince Jefri Bolkiah in 1996, the ship was not completed until Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum swooped in and provided the necessary funding to finish the project. This yacht includes a swimming pool, spa, helipad, a glass staircase and everything you could ever need and want day in and day out. Pictures are taken from teureyacht.de

  5. Superyacht A - It has a price tag of 250 million euros. It is capable of housing 14 guests and is manned and maintained by a crew of 42 people. It made its maiden voyage in the year 2008 and underwent repairs and further work thereafter. It was finally completed to satisfaction in year 2009. It is currently owned by a russian billionaire Andrei Melnichenko. It's 120 meters long. The superyacht also has an exterior that can only be described as a sleek and futuristic iceberg breaker. The following pictures are the property of Guillaume Plisson

  6. Al Said - Al Said was actually called project Sunflower during its construction. This vessel, costing about 231 million euros, has an aluminium superstructure, can welcome and comfortably house 70 guests, and is run by a crew of 154 people. Perhaps the most exciting feature about this yacht is a concert hall that is said to be big enough to host a 50-piece orchestra. However, further descriptions and details can't be reported without even a single photo of the interior of this amazing watercraft. If you really want to know for sure, then you might as well ask the owner - Oman's Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said. The following pictures are the property of monacoeye.com

  7. Dilbar - Russian businessmen seem to have a penchant for luxury yachts and Alisher Usmanov is definitely one of them. Owned by Alisher Usmanov and named after his mom, Dilbar has all the trappings expected of a vessel that costs 203 million euros. There's a crew of 47, a helipad, lavish accommodations for 20 guests, and more. The ship's owner usually uses the Dilbar to visit his private isles. What a great life his must be. The following pictures are taken from superyachttimes.com

  8. Al Mirqab - It's owned by Qatar Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. Al Mirqab is valued at 192 million euros. Apart from the 10 suites ready to welcome 24 guests, there are also lots of other amenities that make this yacht the vessel of your dreams. For starters, there is a cinema on board, a sunbathing space, swimming pool, helipad, two VIP rooms, and loads of other amazing features. The following pictures all belong to Frank Behrends

  9. Lady Moura - It costs about 162 million euros, and it sure is one expensive boat. This ship's embellishments, including its escutcheon and name, make use of 24 karat gold. Apart from the amazing interior design, what makes the Lady Moura such an impressive vessel is its very own private resort, which slides out of the boat's side. Not only does the mini resort boast deck chairs and sand, but it also has a number of palm tress to complete the scenery. The owner of this private yacht is Nasser Al-Rashid, a multi billionaire from Saudi. The following pictures are taken from superyachtfan.com

  10. The Rising Sun - Previously under the possession of Oracle's Larry Ellison, the Rising Sun is now owned by David Geffen, an American media magnate. This 154 million euro ship has plenty of amenities to offer - there is a movie theater, a basketball court, a helicopter pad, a wine cellar and countless other amenities. As such, the Rising Sun can be rightly described as a magnificent mansion floating on water. These pictures below belong to superyachts.com

Roman Abramovich's yacht Eclipse and his football club Chelsea

Eclipse is a luxury motor yacht constructed in Germany. The yacht was delivered to the Russian businessman on 9th of December, 2010. Roman Abramovich is a Russian billionaire and the owner of Chelsea football club. His yacht is 163.5 metres long requiring a minimum of 70 crewmembers to run. Abramovich and his guests will be protected by a security system that uses laser bursts to foil digital paparazzi photography when activated, anti-bugging and anti-intruder systems, bulletproof glass and a missile detection system. Abramovich will also enjoy a swimming pool that can be drainer and used as a dance floor. The yacht holds two helicopters, three boats and a submarine. This Eclipse costs approximately 936 million euros. As said before, Eclipse has two helicopter pads but also 24 guest cabins, two swimming pools, several hot tubs and a disco hall. The submarine is capable of submerging to 50 metres. Eclipse is also the largest vessel employing a novel rotor based stabilization system against roll motion at anchor and at low cruise speeds. Abramovich's private fleet consists of five motor yachts: Eclipse, Sussurro, Titan, Umbra and Luna. He gave his former yacht Le Grand Bleu to his associate and friend Eugene Shvidler in 2006. He sold his former yacht Ecstasea in 2009 to an unknown Egyptian. He was forced to give another former yacht to his ex-wife in 2009 as a part of their divorce settlement.

Speaking of Roman Abramovich, he also owns a major football club called Chelsea FC. Chelsea Football Club is an English soccer club based in Fulham, London. Founded in 1905, they play in the English Premier and have spent most of their history in the top tier of English football. Their home is the 41,837-seat Stamford Bridge stadium, where they have played since their establishment.
Chelsea had their first major success in 1955, when they won the league championship, and won various cup competitions during the 1960s, 1970s, 1990s and 2000s. The club has enjoyed its greatest period of success in the past two decades, winning 15 recent major trophies since 1997. Domestically, Chelsea have won four league titles, seven FA Cups, four League Cups and four FA Community Shields, while in continental competitions they have won two UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one UEFA Europe League and one UEFA Champions League. Chelsea are the only London club to win the UEFA Champions League, one of four clubs, and the only British club, to have won all three main UEFA club competitions, and also the first club to hold two major European titles simultaneously.
Chelsea's regular kit colours are royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks. The club's crest has been changed several times in attempts to re-brand the club and modernise its image. The current crest, featuring a ceremonial lion rampant regardant holding a staff, is a modification of the one introduced in the early 1950s. The club has sustained the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football. Their average home gate for the 2012-2013 season was 41,462, the sixth highest in the Premier League. Since July 2003, Chelsea have been owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. In April 2013 it was ranked by Forbes Magazine as the seventh most valuable football club in the world, at £588 million ($901 million), an increase of 18% from the previous year.
